Virtual Inertia Control Methods in Islanded Microgrids

Although the deployment and integration of isolated microgrids is gaining widespread support, regulation microgrid frequency under high penetration levels renewable sources still being researched. Among numerous studies on stability, one key approach based integrating an additional loop with virtual inertia control, designed to mimic behavior traditional synchronous machines. In this survey, recent works related control methods in islanded are reviewed. Based a contextual analysis papers from last decade, we attempt better understand why certain suitable for different scenarios, currently open theoretical numerical challenges, which strategies will predominate following years. Some reviewed coefficient diagram method, H-infinity-based methods, reinforcement-learning-based practical-swarm-based fuzzy-logic-based model-predictive controllers.
